Through Jan. 3: General firearms season for deer in all localities in Fredericksburg region. Check state regulations for season details in other localities.

Through Jan. 31: Squirrel and quail seasons statewide

Through Feb. 28: Rabbit season statewide

Dec. 6: Coastal Conservation Association Virginia's 15th annual Benefit Rockfish Tournament, Norview Marina, Deltaville. $10,000-plus in prize money. Regular entry (limited to 150 boats) $225 per boat. Captain's Bag, Youth, Ladies and Senior Divisions. Corporate Challenge Entry (limited to 75 boats), $500 entry fee. For more, see ccavirginia.org.

Dec. 6: Women's Pheasant Hunting Workshop, 8 a.m., Shady Grove Hunting Preserve, Remington. Pre-registration required. Basic Hunter Education and Virginia License required. Fee: $125. For details, call Sharon Townley at 540/439-2683 or 540/439-9437.
