James B. Sthreshley

James Barksdale Sthreshley, 67, of Stafford County died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at his home.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam, and was a member of American Legion Post 30 in Albany, Ga. Jim was a triple master certified automotive technician and had retired from North Stafford High School, where he taught auto body and auto mechanics. He was a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Cloe Sthreshley; his children, John Sthreshley and his wife, Valerie, of Bradenton, Fla., and Annette Sthreshley of Mount Dora, Fla.; his stepchildren, Rick Simms and his wife, Vanessa, of Fredericksburg, Amy Easterling and her husband, Ray, of St. Charles, Mo., and Martha Mikell and her husband, Abe, of Stuarts Draft; four brothers, Marius Sthreshley and his wife, Jeanne, of McKenney, Sam R. Sthreshley and his wife, Linda, of Chesterfield, Charles Cash and his wife, Judy, and Bill Cash, all of Louisburg, N.C.; one sister, Elizabeth S. Grissom of Chester; 12 grandchildren, Robert Dickenson and his wife, Jackie, Stefan Dickinson and his wife, Shianne, Chad Dickinson and his fiancee, Jennifer, Angela Halloran and her husband, Josh, Jessica Sthreshley, Brittany Sthreshley, Kayla Sthreshley, Elizabeth Simms, Sarah Simms, Reed Easterling, Rebekah Easterling and Stephen Mikell; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Larry Haun officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, in Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
