Virginia Railway Express has 4,000 tickets remaining on special trains into Washington on Inauguration Day.

Roughly half the available $25 round-trip tickets are on Fredericksburg Line trains, said VRE spokesperson Mark Roeber.

Public transit will be one of the few ways to get into Washington to witness the swearing-in of President-elect Barack Obama.

Yesterday, Virginia State Police announced that only emergency vehicles, buses, taxis and for-hire limousines and car services will be allowed to travel on Interstate 395 north and eastbound Interstate 66 inside the Capitol Beltway after 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

All other traffic will be diverted around Washington on the Beltway.

Only authorized vehicles will be allowed to cross the 14th Street Bridge, Roosevelt Bridge and Key Bridge into D.C.

The Memorial Bridge and Chain Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic but open to foot traffic.

High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on Interstate 95/395 will also be affected.

Only emergency vehicles, buses, taxis and for-hire limousines and car services will be allowed to travel in HOV lanes from Dumfries to Washington from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Inauguration Day.

Go online to vre.org to check train schedules or to print out a mail order form to obtain VRE inauguration tickets.
