The Constitution gives the people control
This is in response to Joe Sucha's and Charles Stinnett's letters to the editor ["Kidnapping is OK, but gun ownership is not!" Jan. 29, and "Second Amendment guarantees other nine," Feb. 5].
Thank you for pointing out what all Americans should know and understand about the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.
The greatest document ever conceived of and put to paper for all to see, the Constitution is a document by which the people restrain and control the government, not the other way around.
And I am one of those determined patriots who would stand up to, and against, a rogue government and its agents.
William Taylor

Waco was a BATFU op for illegal automatic weapons. None were found. Waco should have been a wakeup call. The militarization of the police is becoming a threat to society. SWAT is used more and more often to "deliver" no-knock warrants on the wrong address with people being killed by the cops. The gov't is taking more control to "help us". It's time a lot more people start sounding like Patrick Henry.
It's obvious.

It's amazing that so many are so ignorant that they don't realize that the US Government is NOT the country. The US Government is NOT " America." Jefferson said, "government is an instrument of the people and is answerable to the people." If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but if it's falling apart, then tear it down and rebuild it. Nowhere in the Constitution is the government granted the authority to do 99% of the crap it does and that we allow it to get away with.
duck- You sound like Patrick Henry.

"Give me liberty or give me death." makes a great bumper
sticker... or epitaph. How's things turn out for the holdout
Branch Davidians in Waco? (That's rhetorical... I know how
it turned out.) They would have been better off surrendering
peacefully. It may have kept Tim McVeigh from blowing up a
bunch of innocent children in Oklahoma City,

I am of the opinion that when someone tries to snatch you up, it is an appropriate time to *exercise* your 2nd Amendment rights. You certainly have nothing to lose at that point. Does anyone else find it normal that no politicians are acting to repeal this legislation?

Permits the President to suspend an American's rights of
Habeas Corpus. When they snatch you up, deny you council
and extraordinarily rendition you to Egypt, be sure to insist on
keeping your 2nd Amendment rights.
