Karen S. Peacher

Karen Elaine Simpson Peacher passed away peacefully Thursday, March 19, 2009, at her home in Unionville, with her loving husband at her side.

She was born June 24, 1958, in Alexandria, and was the eldest daughter of Constance B. and the late Llewellyn C. Simpson of Locust Grove.

Karen was a graduate of the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree as a nurse practioner.

She was employed with Cardiology Associates of Fredericksburg.

In addition to her mother, Karen is survived by her husband, Otis M. Peacher; a daughter, Kristie D. Haas and husband Chad of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Otis M. Peacher III and wife Jean of Buckingham; a brother, Glenn L. Simpson of Fairfax; a sister, LuAnne S. Conley and her husband, David; and nephew Christopher, of Russell, Ky.; and grandchildren Morgan and Alison Haas, and Naomi and Milo Peacher.

Also surviving are her aunt Beverly Batton and husband Durwood, of Spotsylvania County, and her uncle Elwood Simpson and wife Barbara, of Sterling. Karen also leaves behind many cousins, loving friends and co-workers.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Dumfries Cemetery, 17821 Mine Road, Dumfries.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Karen S. Peacher Medical Fund, c/o Wachovia Bank, N.A., to help offset Karen's medical expenses.

Additional funds will be directed to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Karen.
