Divorce regime ignores kids' 'best interest'

I have seen the lack of justice firsthand relative to family law, and I am incensed that anyone--let alone a lawyer--would say otherwise.

I totally agree with Stephen Baskerville and am shocked by the comments of Thomas Savage. What planet is Mr. Savage from?

Let's face it. The deck is stacked in favor of the mothers. There is no such thing as equal parenting or doing what is in the "best interest of the children."

I congratulate Mr. Baskerville for a very well-written and accurate op-ed.

Useful Idiot Supports Mythology (posted by MikeMurphy , Apr. 10, 2009 11:45 am)
The myth of dad sowing his "wild oats" died some time ago. Its as big a myth as feminism is about equality. Savage really doesn't seem to have a clue about the impacts of his "business" on fathers and ultimately on a couple of generations of children growing up fatherless. It truly is a shame the someone who purports to have been dismantling families for 27 years, pocketing lots of money can't read about the social problems he has had a hand in creating. That is not just perceptual blindness it is willful.

You are not that useful... (posted by snakesonaguy , Apr. 10, 2009 9:02 am)
you assume that fathers are all driving little red sports cars. Many of these people only want to be with their children.

useful? (posted by tippy1 , Apr. 10, 2009 8:09 am)
I suppose you have first hand knowlage of all cases. I for one have had first hand knowlage of Virginia child support in action. When a mother can demand more support because her and her extended family (not counting the child) can not live on the support already paid, can get an increase, then the courts are not looking out for the best intrest of the child.

Was he involved in a divorce? (posted by UsefulIdiot , Apr. 10, 2009 5:27 am)
And was he mad when the judge told him that those payments for that little red sports car had to go instead for child support? In other words, is the writer an objective observer?
