Keep Goshen Pass pristine
Thank you for giving the many reasons why the Boy Scouts should not move the Jamboree to Goshen Pass in Rockbridge County ["The Jamboree's move," April 26].
I, too, feel that Goshen is not the right spot.
The majestic Maury River runs by the highway. This river was named for Matthew Fontaine Maury, whose nickname was "Pathfinder of the Seas."
Maury had ties to both Fredericksburg and Caroline County. He liked Goshen Pass so much that he asked that at his death, his body be taken through Goshen Pass when the laurel were in bloom. This was done.
Today, there is a marker to Maury near the highway.
I hope that this beautiful area of the state remains untouched. It is my hope that everyone knows who Matthew Fontaine Maury was.

Goshen is my little piece of heaven. I did not attend the Boy Scout camp there, But spent 11 summers of my younger life at Camp Virginia. It too is right in the pass on the banks of the Maury. I agree with dr428..it is only a Jamboree. With the proper planning this would give hundreds or thousands of younsters the opportunity I had as a boy growing up in "the Pass". It would be the experience of a lifetime for most. Planning is the key....
Get a grip people.

They're having a Jamboree there, not trying to build retail stores, condos, and a train station. Gee[*#@!]
