A Spotsylvania bridal and jewelry boutique was robbed yesterday, and the store's owner was held at gunpoint and tied up.

Detectives are investigating the armed robbery that occurred about noon at Bazaar Y Joyeria, Ada's on Lafayette Boulevard, said 1st Sgt. Liz Scott of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

Scott said the owner was alone in the store when three robbers came in. She gave police a detailed account of the incident, in which several pieces of jewelry were stolen.

The victim told police two men came into the store pretending to be customers. The third man came in, put his hand over her mouth and held a gun to the back of her head. He then ordered her into the office at the back of the store, where she was tied up.

"She was bound very tightly," Scott said.

She said the woman was left in the office with her arms and feet tied.

But Scott said the victim was able to shimmy out into the main part of the store.

A man walking past the store and saw the victim tied up, lying on the floor. He flagged down a passer-by, who called police at 12:08 p.m., Scott said.

She said the woman gave descriptions of all three men, who appeared to be in their 20s. The first, she said, had a large build and was 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed about 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans.

The second was about 5 feet 3 inches tall, Scott said, and was very clean cut with feminine eyebrows that looked waxed. He was wearing a button-down shirt and jeans.

The third man was also about 5 feet 3 inches tall and was very thin and wearing a blue baseball cap.

Scott said according to the victim, all three men spoke in Spanish and seemed to have a Honduran accent.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Spotsylvania Crime Solvers at 540/582-5822.

So people from Maine or Texas ....(or Ireland, Scotland and Great Britain) don't speak with a distinctive accent that would allow one to figure out where they are from?

Could be the first of a series... (posted by MrZorro , May 15, 2009 8:15 pm)
Local robbers seem to hit repeatedly if not caught, or until caught. Spotsy probably needs more undercover Hispanic police, as they become a major part of the County population. It is unusual in that part of the County to have such a brazen, abduction-style armed robbery. That area is usually quiet.

Honduran (posted by 1eviltwin , May 15, 2009 7:08 pm)
So how does a honduran person sound different than anyother person...i mean come on

$35k to $45k (posted by jaeshuan , May 15, 2009 6:14 pm)

Hmmm, honduran accents..... (posted by Trippletap , May 15, 2009 3:00 pm)
...blue shirt and blue hat....seemed to be in their 20's. Sounds like this was the work of MS-13.
