Raymond M. Schley Jr.
Raymond Markwood Schley Jr., 68, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, in Woodbridge. He had retired as a captain with the Prince Wil-liam Department of Fire and Rescue after 20 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Company No. 3. After his retirement from the county, he worked for 17 years with Hendrick Honda.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a family man and a good friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Frances Schley.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Schley of Dumfries; his daughter, Valerie Toma-zewski and her husband, Leon, of Okinawa, Japan; his sister, Frances Dent and her husband, Marvin, of Tri-angle; his brother, Daniel Schley and his wife, Joyce, of Crossroads, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Starla Dietz of Stafford, Robert Dietz of Okinawa, and Bryan Dietz of Windsor. Special appreciation goes to his niece, Sheri Albright, for her loving care and dedication to Raymond. He also is survived by his best friend, Bandit.
A celebration of Raymond's life will be held on Sunday and Monday, May 17-18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19. Interment will follow in Dumfries Cemetery.
