Caroline High School presented the following top awards recently at a special ceremony.

Janet Nunnally, Kings Dominion Best of the Class of 2009

Tarrin Freeman, American Legion Oratorical Contest Recipient

Janet Nunnally, Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Award

Anthony Stewart II, Caroline County William Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Stephanie Lemmonds, Fary Memorial Scholarship Award

Marcell Anderson and Amber Kenney, Fox Insurance Most Improved Senior Award

Travis Sampson, Principal's Leadership Award

Ernest Jackson Jr. and India Johnson, Principal's Citizenship Scholarship Award

Alicia Britt, Rappahannock Community College Associate's Degree

Amber Feggans, Virginia Tech Pamplin Leader Award


Janet Nunnally is Caroline High School's valedictorian for 2009.

She is a lifelong resident of Caroline County, growing up on a small family farm and attending Caroline schools. She participated in Caroline volleyball, both JV and varsity. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta club. She was also a member of the Caroline JROTC unit, earning the following awards: 3 year superior cadet, 4 year American Legion Scholastic Excellence, Outstanding Leadership, Staff Service, and Distinguished Cadet. Janet plans to continue to work near the military. She has been a member of 4-H since youth, winning an Outstanding Counselor Award. Janet is active in her church and spends her free time sailing, horseback riding, attending camps and reading. She will attend MIT in the fall to study aerospace engineering.
