Mrs. Jarvie Preston Clay, 94, of King George County, died Saturday, June 20, 2009. She was born on April 22, 1915, in Gladehill, daughter of the late Thomas Lewis Preston and Sallie Fannie Perdue. She was the widow of Julius Clay.
She belonged to First Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball, W.Va., where she served on the missionary board, kitchen club and taught Sunday school. She also joined the Antioch Baptist Church in King George.
She is survived by her son, David C. Clay of Philadelphia; two daughters, Marie Rooks of Philadelphia and Cassandra L. Miller of King George; 28 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Holy Trinity Baptist Church, 675 Colonial Turnpike, Rocky Mount, Va. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bluefield, W.Va. Lee Funeral Home, King George, is handling the arrangements.
