Change in political parties--Not the 'change' we seek

I was surprised to read in the paper that Mark Osborn, who ran as the Republican candidate in the last election and was defeated by Democrat George Schwartz, has now decided to run again, but this time as an independent ["Plenty of choices for Stafford board," June 11].

Why does he think switching from the Republican Party to run as an independent is going to make him a better supervisor this time around?

The voters of Falmouth spoke in 2005 when he was soundly defeated.

His record of spending, raising taxes, and being unable to manage growth did not make him very popular with his constituents.

We do not need another tax-and-spend politician elected to any level of government, especially here in Stafford. I don't care what party he claims to be a member of now.

We face many challenges in this tough economic time. We need someone who works from a strong foundation and who has leadership and vision.

It's time for change in Falmouth. We certainly do not need the failed policies of the past.
