Prayer garden served as Scout's Eagle project

Jared Thomas Covington, a Boy Scout with Troop 218 in Falmouth, earned his Eagle rank at a recent Court of Honor.

Jared is a 17-year-old Stafford High School graduate, and the son of the Rev. Scott and Martha Covington of Fredericksburg.

Jared has been involved in Scouting since he joined Cub Scout Pack 453 in Baskin, La., in the first grade. He earned the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting's highest award, as a fifth-grader. He joined Troop 218, chartered by the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department, in March 2001. Jared has served in many leadership positions in Troop 218, including patrol leader, librarian, historian and chaplain aide. He is a member of Berea Baptist Church.

Jared was a member of the Stafford Players and was a member of the cast of "Leading Ladies," "The Serpent" and "Picasso at the Lapin Agile." He served as the light technician for "The Sound of Music" and "Romeo and Juliet." He was a member of the improv team Awkward Pause.

Jared has participated in many community projects through his troop and his church and completed a prayer garden at Bethel Baptist Church with the help of Troop 218 as his Eagle project.
