Cadet Gretchen L. Pace graduated from the Army ROTC leader's training course at Fort Knox, Ky. She is the daughter of Sidney R. and Teri L. Pace of Unionville, a student at the University of Virginia, and a 2007 graduate of Orange County High School.

Air Force Airman Daniel E. Waid has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is the former ward of Kelli and Michael Koba of Fredericksburg and a 2008 graduate of St. Michael the Archangel High School.

Cadet Adam P. Smith graduated from the Army ROTC leader's training course at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Mike S. and Beth A. Smith of Fredericksburg, a student at George Mason University, and a 2002 graduate of North Stafford High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Precious U. Parks-Matthews graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. She is the daughter of Randy Parks of Ruther Glen and a 1999 graduate of Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala.

Army National Guard Pvt. James M. Coleman graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Teresa Coleman of Culpeper.

Army Reserve Sgt. Justin S. Garrett is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to the Iraqi Theater of Operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is the son of Jeffery Garrett of Louisa and Shirley J. Blackwell of Orange and a 2007 graduate of Orange County High School.

Army Pvt. Kimberly L. Beals graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Bobby Fugett Sr. of Fredericksburg and a 2007 graduate of Pima Medical Institute, Albuquerque, N.M.
