Dorothy M. Broyles

Dorothy Moore Broyles, 91, of Culpeper passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Dogwood Village of Orange County. She was born July 4, 1918, to Hiram David Moore and Angeline Zollman Moore of Hopewell.

Dorothy worked for 20 years in the Culpeper County school system; was a 1940 graduate of James Madison University; a member of Bethel Baptist Church; and taught Sunday school for many years; and was a member of the Culpeper County Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving Dorothy are her son, Carl Moore Broyles of Culpeper; sister-in-law, Hilda B. Cassell of Blackstone; two nephews; and three nieces and a special friend, Frances L. Warren of South Hill.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Shirley C. Broyles; infant son Robert David Broyles and sister Nancy M. Engelman preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, with the Rev. John Miller and the Rev. Kenneth Huneycutt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

Interment will follow in Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, General Delivery, Reva, Va. 22735.
