Rose Mary Wheeler, 56, of Fredericksburg passed Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at her home after a courageous six- year battle with cancer.

Rose was born in Charleston, S.C., to the late Carlyle and Ella Herndon. She worked as an overnight stocker for Walmart for 10 years and, in her free time, enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Thomas Wheeler; two daughters, Tammy Loveless and her husband, William, and Teresa Cannon and her husband, Timmy, all of Spotsylvania County; a son, Tom Wheeler of Stafford County; a brother, Carlyle Herndon of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, Chelsea and Chad Cannon, Heather Loveless and Hunter Maurer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose's family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A memorial service celebrating Rose's life will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Rose's family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
