Martha McGhee

Martha McGhee, 65, of Fredericksburg died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Martha was born in Bern, Switzerland, and immigrated to the United States in 1948.

She was a former resident of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. She had been very active in Boy Scouts, PTA and numerous volunteer activities at her sons' schools. She was also active in numerous civic activities over the years.

Martha dedicated her life to raising her family and serving others.

Survivors include her husband, Robert McGhee; her three sons, Greg McGhee and his wife, Kathy, of Fredericksburg, Robert McGhee and his wife, Lorraine, of Mechanicsville and William McGhee of Norfolk; a brother, Charles Krauser of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Erna Arnold of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Katherine McGhee, Jessica Wells and Jacob Wall; a sister-in-law, Sally Solderholm and her husband, Rollie; a brother-in-law, John McGhee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with Mr. Michael Wondree officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home.
