Noreen Crowley: Active in Stafford's schools
Readers who live in the Hartwood District of Stafford should cast their vote on Nov. 3 for Noreen Crowley for Stafford County School Board.
Noreen served on the School Board from 1998 to 2002, and since then has held various positions related to state and national education policy.
More importantly, Noreen has had three of her four children graduate from Stafford County schools; her youngest attends Colonial Forge High School.
As a 20-year resident of Stafford County, she has volunteered at our schools and cares deeply about preserving the tradition of academic excellence.
Noreen has been endorsed by the Stafford Education Association and Dr. Russell Watson, retired Stafford County school superintendent.
There's no greater recommendation than to have teachers, educational support personnel, and other education professionals support your campaign.
I'm voting for Noreen Crowley because she is very active in our schools, focuses on long-term goals for our children, supports fair and competitive salaries for school employees, and emphasizes transparency and continuous communication in all areas of the school system.
I'm voting for Noreen Crowley because she cares about our children and the quality of education they are receiving.
I want the best when it comes to my children--and the best person for the job is Noreen Crowley.

I stand corrected then about the SEA as a teachers union- it is so a club that lobbies with little or no effect. Hardley anything then to get excited about when the club with little or no effect endorses someone. Thanks for clearing that up!

Referring to the SEA/VEA as a teacher's union is a gross misnomer. These organizations are merely clubs that lobby part-time with little to no effect. Look at the over-crowded classrooms, the lowering of the bar regarding the grading scale, and the stagnant wages/benefits of teachers. No real teacher's union would let these things pass. An organization without the right to strike is not a union. The SEA/VEA is just an organization like any other professional or business group. Union's strike.

are elected by the citizens to represent them NOT the school division nor the indiviual schools. I dont recall ever hearing that the school board have to be active in th PTO's ,PTA's or the teachers Union. From what I see on TV and read in the papers, MS Phillips works for the people and has a lot of common sense and business savy. I think she has done a good job, and should stand on her record. , her opponent didnt seem to care much for constiuents before and is very political- ran against Howell a lost.
Right Wing Lunacy has crept into a School Board Election!

Acorn! Obama! Teachers Unions! What do any of these topics have to do with Stafford? Absolutely nothing, but if you're a right wing nut, these awful threats are lurking in the dark, empty space inside your head! Beware of any school board candidates (or campaign managers) who are obsessed with this nonsense. Noreen Crowley has a proven track record of being involved with schools and being able to work with others.

and I'm all kinds of mad about taxpayer dollars supporting their corruption. But you're trying to gin up support by corraling anger over ACORN and linking it to SCPS. I really hate ACORN, but it's not working for me.
