Wellness now 'oh, well' under Jerry Hill
There used to be a driving force advocating health and wellness in the school division. But this past summer Superintendent Jerry Hill forced that wellness coordinator to resign. Now Dr. Hill has decreased elementary school recess time ["Less recess? Parents say no," Sept. 26], and he hands out doughnuts for reward recognition ["Riverbend teacher's positive classroom chemistry honored," Sept. 26].
The school division wellness program is no longer what it was. This is an embarrassment for Spotsylvania County.

I honestly do not think this position ever exsisted.
If there was one, give the name of the former employee that was "forced out."
Show your work, Mr. Martin.
That makes this wellness program totally

Remember while there may be a new wellness coordinator the letter to the editor today indicated that the wellness program is no longer what it was under the previous coordinator. It is not health service based anymore. It is now being run through Food Services. That makes this wellness program totally different.
A leader's job is not to make people happy.

It is the job of a leader to inspire, to listen and to be willing to accept input. They treat others with dignity at all times and do not bully or intimidate. A true leader has the same face in public as behind closed doors. They are not afraid to take criticism and turn it into a positive. A true leader spends time with employees and comes to understand their needs. A true leader can deliver bad news because they are trusted. In other words a true leader is everything that Jerry Hill isn't.
