FROM STAFF REPORTS The Spotsylvania cross country teams swept a meet at Loriella Park yesterday. The Knight girls edged Chancellor 36-39, while the boys won 31-43 over runner-up Courtland. In the girls race, Courtland (57) was third, Powhatan (107) fourth and Caroline (134) fifth. In the boys race, Chancellor (79) was third and Powhatan (86) fourth. Girls results: 1. Michael Denham (JM) 18:21.FIELD HOCKEY Spotsylvania 2, Kelsey Link and Molly Malloy each scored goals to lift Spotsylvania to a Battlefield District win yesterday. Mia Meyer scored and Kendall Eskey had an assist for the Foxes, while goalie Ally Bienz made 37 saves. Chelsea Mann registered an assist, and Nicole Simms and Kaitie Seay played solid defense for the Knights (6-9, 6-7), who entertain Eastern View next Wednesday. Courtland 5, Culpeper 2 Visiting Courtland earned a Battlefield District win over Culpeper yesterday.
