Vote for fiscally responsible Phillips
Date published: 10/23/2009 Vote for fiscally responsible Phillips On Nov. 3, the choice for the Hartwood District could not be more important. We need to allow Doreen Phillips to continue as a voice of reason for the School Board in Stafford County. Doreen is the only Hartwood candidate who has committed all of her children's education to the Stafford school system. During her four years on the School Board, Doreen has stood by her commitment to consolidate schools that the county cannot fill. This would allow a significant reduction in expenses. These funds could be used to maintain our faculties. She stood against the majority of the board when it gave in to the pressures of constituents to keep underutilized schools open. As a result, we have 4,800 empty seats. Being a board member is a huge responsibility. It takes more than simply "being active in our schools." Doreen will continue to make the tough decisions. "Competitive salaries for our teachers" is a great idea, but it cannot happen without fiscal responsibility. Vote for Doreen Phillips. Jay Jackson Stafford
