Shenan R. Riddick

Shenan Reid Riddick, 37, wife of James Arthur Riddick Jr. and daughter of John and Lonnie Reid, went on to be with Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in Fredericksburg.

Born in Coral Gables, Fla., on April 14, 1972, she attended Fredericksburg Christian School, graduated from Chancellor High School, and earned a B.S. in zoology from North Carolina State University. Shenan was a member of Alpha Phi sorority.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Shenan served the Lord wholeheartedly at Salem Fields Community Church in the ministry of Bright Beginnings, a single mother's group. She was passionate about life, and immersed herself in the lives of her children and others. She enjoyed watching her daughter Jordan playing field hockey, her daughter Darby swimming and acting in the Christian youth theater, and her son Pierce playing golf and Wii.

Memories of her life will be cherished by her family and friends: her husband, Art; two daughters and a son, Jordan, Darby and Pierce; her mother and father, John and Lonnie Reid; her sisters and brother, Courtney, Wendy, Sarah and Shane; brother-in-law Christopher Stiles; and sister-in-laws Erin Reid and Beth Riddick; and her father- and mother-in-law, James and Gale Riddick.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Salem Fields Community Church, with the Rev. Buddy Marston officiating. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Shenan Reid Riddick Memorial Fund, c/o Reid Engineering Co., 1210 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

The Lord has said: "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord"--Matthew 25:21.
