VRE will indeed bring new business to Spotsy
I have a high-tech environmental database management business in Gloucester County. I have read about Spotsylvania's decision to join VRE, and arguments being made about how it will attract new business and higher paying jobs.
So your readers know, I have plans to further expand my business in Spotsylvania, and nothing will play a bigger role in making this happen than Spotsylvania's membership in VRE.
I am one of those businesses that VRE supporters talk about when they say it will bring new businesses and jobs to Spotsylvania.

I worked hard with Rep Davis years ago to get some satellite fed govt agency here. Even when in the majority and very senior on the right committees, she could not make it happen. The new offices were put inside the beltway. The higher paying private contractor jobs will stay close to their customers, if it is the govt they will stay north. Staffords limited success has been in support of Quantico. VRE as planned does NOTHING to entice jobs.
vre you can keep it

Goverment or goverment contractors, rather than having them spend massive amounts of tax $$ on ways to improve how to get way too many people into and out of the beltway every day, why not look into if it may not take less tax $$ to decentralize things so that everyone isn't trying to get to the same place?
move high tech south - HOW?

Yes and we need to know what role VRE plays in that (or
not) but more importantly we need to identify why they
won't come down here especially with massive office space
like Cap One already available.
I think it is not VRE but I would certainly listen to a
consultant study addressing these issues.
More important, we need to be addressing the things that
we need to do to attract business in NoVa.
I think it should be a very feasible thing much like the
exurban areas around Boston and other places.
it would seem the solution

and the 800 lb gorilla noone seems to notice in the room, would be for at least a few of the employers, whose employees are commuting North, to move their location further south. They would save $$ on their office space (less overhead), Their employees spend less time and $ commuting (better quality of life) , that gains them a major recruiting point to get and keep quality employees. So why is it none of them seem to want to try this?
