Charlie Percy Loving, 80, of Sparta passed away at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.

Charlie was a lifelong resident of Caroline County. He enjoyed driving big trucks and doing mechanical work on them and on farm tractors.

He is survived by one son, James Harris and his wife, Delores, a grandson, James, and a granddaughter, Lisa, all of Spotsylvania County; one sister, Flossie J. Powell of Fredericksburg; one brother, Gary Smith of Louisa County; three devoted nieces, who were his caregivers: Shirley Mason, Darlene Wedding and Linda Huffman; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances W. Loving, his mother, Delia B. Smith, a sister, Sally A. Carpenter, and a brother, Gordon L. Loving.

A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. James Baptist Church cemetery in Milford.
