Saosin's latest album, "In Search of Solid Ground," is like an eruption of emotions.
From slow, piano-infused melodies to angry lyrics to intense guitar riffs, Saosin knows how to self-record, produce and mix the perfect album.
The first track, "I Keep My Secrets Safe," shows off vocalist Cove Reber's clear diction and strong ability to release his feelings through his music. His screams are filled with passion, and take the listeners on an exquisite path curving and passing by his every feeling.
The album goes on a twisted journey during track four. "Changing" can definitely be considered one of the best songs on the album, mostly due to its mysterious tone.
During this song, drummer Alex Rodriguez really shows what he is made of, as he lashes out on his drums. Amid the winding melody, there is a pause where Reber speaks, which may catch one by surprise, but in the most creative and thrilling way.
The CD carries on to "It's All Over Now," where Saosin's musical talent is impossible to ignore. The music crescendos in, and Reber's voice is nothing short of addicting.
This track adds a bit of variety to the album because it incorporates less of Reber's typical yelling--but fans, do not worry, there are still a few screams to hold on to.
The album takes its final stop at "Fireflies," again showing Saosin's unbelievable ability to conquer any form of music.
A slow piano melody enchants the listeners, as the album's path finally finds its beautiful ending. The lyrics are magical, stating things such as, "Stay bright little fireflies/ Make light before my eyes."
The best part about "Fireflies" is its bridge. The bridge trickles down upon the listener with pounding drumbeats leading into the chorus, making the perfect closing for such a rich song.
Saosin, with the fantastic talents of Cove Reber, Chris Sorenson, Beau Burchell, Justin Shekoski and Alex Rodriguez, has created an auditory experience that one should certainly not miss. Make sure to support Saosin while it is out on the road promoting "In Search of Solid Ground."
