Orrick F. Johnson Sr.
Orrick Fitzhugh Johnson Sr., 90, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Westminster Canterbury House in Richmond.
Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran, and co-founded one of the oldest and largest real estate firms in Fredericksburg. He ran a realty and insurance business on William Street for 31/2 years before teaming up with Ray C. Glazebrook in 1954 to form Johnson & Glazebrook, a real estate firm. He left 21 years later to found Johnson Real Estate Services, where he was president and principal broker.
Mr. Johnson was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, the Fredericksburg Country Club and the Dominion Club. He was a former member of Rotary, where he served as president, the Jaycees and the Masonic Lodge, and past chairman of Medicorp.
Survivors include his wife, Martha K. Johnson; three children, Fitz Johnson, Ginnie Branscome and Bill Johnson; sister Mary Virginia Tabb; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Gray Johnson, and his brother, Converse Cleaves Johnson Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Fredericksburg City Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
