Peace prize for Obama? For what, exactly?

Peace prize for Obama? For what, exactly?

Date published: 11/2/2009

Can anyone tell me exactly what it was that our infallible president did to win the Nobel Peace Prize?

According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, it was awarded to President Obama for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

I guess sending more troops to Afghanistan falls under this category. Or maybe it was his brilliant idea to reach out to terrorist organizations such as the Taliban.

In my opinion, Obama has done little good for the people of this country, let alone the people of the world.

Here are some past recipients of the award:

Jean Henry Dunant, 1901, Founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Woodrow Wilson, 1919, Founder of the League of Nations

Albert Schweitzer, 1952, missionary surgeon

Martin Luther King Jr., 1964, pastor and civil rights leader, who sacrificed all in the name of peace

Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan, 1976, founders of the Northern Ireland peace movement.

These people gave so much to mankind, asking nothing in return, that their recognition can't be questioned.

When Al Gore received the Nobel Prize for his work on the theory of global warming, I began to see that Chicken Little could have won the prize for his theory on "the sky is falling."

At this point, it seems that being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize is about as prestigious as winning Employee of the Month at a fast-food restaurant.

Peace prize? PUHHLEEASE! (posted by kspecial , Nov. 3, 2009 5:21 pm)
After they way he treated those poor Somalian pirates? (Maybe some of you should READ the press release at http://nobelprize.org to understand: WHY)

My concern is the torture (posted by Mandrake , Nov. 3, 2009 12:28 pm)
the other readers suffer..especially those that agree with the "comment torturers" who do not realize they are being tortured. This subliminal torture has been shown to permanently damage neural patterns with the unacceptable result that they bend to the will of the torturer and accept everything the torturer says as gospel truth. McNamara would have used this technique if he had known about it.

Why?!! (posted by fredbrgresident , Nov. 3, 2009 9:01 am)
I dont understand why people are still talking and worrying about the Peace Prize that Obama won. Get over it!! He won fairly! He didnt solicit it, he didnt ask for it...is there nothing else going on in your lives that you have to consume yourself with something so petty?!!! Why dont u take the time to go out and vote and make yourselves useful or talk about something that matters!!

Mandrake, as long as you can (posted by True_Bob , Nov. 3, 2009 9:00 am)
choose to read posts or not, it's not torture. Thanks for playing, try again later.

Now that I understand what torture is (posted by Mandrake , Nov. 3, 2009 8:43 am)
most of you posters here are guilty of it and should at the very least be booted by FLS. Oh I forgot, most of you already did get the temporary boot and are back and some of you snuck back in with new names. Which means you LIED to FLS to get approved. Regardles of your personal struggles I suggest you either use irony or truth in your diatribes. Since mental anguish according to the expert here is torture...HE is guitly of it and so other the other shrill voices
