Don't forget those serving

School Board member encourages packages to service members in Iraq

Date published: 11/3/2009

Spotsylvania County School Board member Ray Lora is encouraging people to remember the military, especially as Veterans Day approaches.

He's urging folks to send letters and care packages but has reconsidered his statement at last week's School Board meeting when he offered to pay the postage for anyone wishing to send a package to the Army's 3rd Infantry Division or 25th Infantry Division, with whom he said he stays in touch.

Lora realized the postage could be in the thousands of dollars if people get enthusiastic about the effort so he has dropped his plan to pay all postage.

Anyone wishing to send a letter to one of those units in Iraq can get the address by e-mailing him at rlora@scs .k12.va.us
