Top seeds advance to district finals

Courtland earned it's 200th all-time win and earned a Region I playoff spot in the process with a 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 volleyball win over Culpeper in last night's second Battlefield District semifinal at King George High School.

The Cougars were led by Kristen Smith with 26 digs, Anja Willging with 13 kills, Rachel Gallup with eight kills, Sarah Young with six kills, Julia Miller with five kills and Dakota White with 14 assists.

Second-seeded Courtland meets top-seeded Chancellor for the the third time this season in tomorrow's district final at King George.

VOLLEYBALL

Chancellor 3, Spotsylvania 0

Top-seeded Chancellor cruised to a 25-9, 25-13, 25-8 win over Spotsylvania in last night's first Battlefield District semifinal match at King George High School.

Adriana Ramos had 16 kills and Seth Sullivan doled out 29 assists for the Chargers (17-4). Jen Talhelm added eight kills and three blocks and Janay Frazier totaled six kills and seven blocks.

Allyson Sharpe had 11 assists and Katie Graham chipped in eight digs and four kills for Spotsylvania (9-12). Kirsten Brock chipped in four blocks and three kills.

Chancellor takes on the Courtland in tomorrow's district final.

COLONIAL FORGE 3, RIVERBEND 0

Brooke Kelley had 19 kills and Gabby Myers 29 assists to help the Eagles oust the Bears 26-24, 25-16, 25-8 in the Commonwealth District semifinals.

Alyssa Baird added 14 digs and seven aces, while Kendra Stone contributed five kills for Colonial Forge (14-8).

For Riverbend (12-10), Stephanie Delneky had seven kills and five digs, Kelsey Wolfrey recorded nine kills and four blocks, Jenny Tkac had four kills and Parker Benton had 17 assists.

Colonial Forge visits Albemarle in tomorrow's district final.

Albemarle 3, Mountain View 0

Top-seeded Albemarle earned a 25-22, 25-15, 25-18 win in last night's Commonwealth District semifinals against visiting Mountain View.

The Wildcats finished the season with a 15-7 overall record.

FIELD HOCKEY

North Stafford 9, Osbourn 0

Kelsie Barker and Danni Addison had two goals each and Sydney Melillo distributed three assists in visiting North Stafford's Northwest Region quarterfinal win yesterday.

Chrissy Nevers added a goal and two assists and

Callie Wetzelberger had one goal and one assist for the Wolverines (11-7).
