There's a word for the federal debt: Obscene
Congress has allowed the federal debt to grow by leaps and bounds to where we now have an obscene debt of tens of trillions of dollars.
Who knows the real number? Silly question, but what is the interest on this debt?
We have a stimulus program that is more of a rescue program. We rescue banks and city and state programs. We gave away money to the auto industry. We have a program for homeowners.
Will we ever be able to function without repeated stimulus programs? All these monies were borrowed with future taxpayers as debtors.
How can we refuse to raise our taxes? But are we willing to saddle our great-grandchildren and their great-grandchildren with this enormous debt of our doing? Let the good times roll.

Your words alone proves your statement is untrue. Only close minded people claim they alone know how to love their country, and value the constitution and freedom. It says that it never enters your brain that people who see things differently than you - could also have things to contribute or could be right, or loving or "American". This thinking is reminiscent of witch hunts and McCarthy trials. Nothing is more dangerous than righteous people with an agenda.
Liberals (now known as progressives) are closed minded

since they already know everything. Conservatives have an open mind because they don't know anything except how to love America and the freedoms and responsibilities the Constitution provides to all...

Where were they. They were home in their bathrooms watching secret videos of Monica and Bill.
Well said, I don't get it either

All of a sudden these people figured out we are in debt? Where were they before January?
Why is it that people are just now concerned?

This debt is nothing new, but many (mostly people who hate Obama) are suddenly concerned. This goes back decades and while it's true that Clinton had a budget surplus at the end of his presidency, it's unclear whether any of that surplus was ever used to pay down any of the national debt. I'm an independent and I'm not thrilled with Obama's performance, but to act like this debt is his fault is a joke. In the future, any surpluses should be used ONLY to pay down the debt.
