James A. Adkins

James A. Adkins, 74, of Spotsylvania County passed away Thursday Nov. 12, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Adkins was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Harvey and Anna Adkins.

Retiring after a number of years in auto sales, Mr. Adkins worked as a driver for FREDericksburg Regional Transit in King George County. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Mr. Adkins is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn; three sons, David James Adkins and wife Pam of Colorado, Dennis Gregory Adkins and wife Brenda of Stafford County and Brad Adkins and wife Amanda; a brother, Donald Adkins of Florida; a sister, Rose Marie Hass of Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, Fredericksburg chapel, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at St. Mary Catholic Church with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1009 Stafford Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401-5418.
