Patricia A. Ward

Patricia Ann Ward, 73, of Stafford County passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in Spotsylvania, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Ward worked as a paraprofessional for Stafford County public schools for 34 years. She was a member of Virginia ICES and had taught more than 5,000 students the art of cake decorating and was named Teacher of the Year. She earned the Imperial award from Wilton, the highest honor bestowed. Mrs. Ward had also been inducted into the Wilton Hall of Fame.

Survivors include her seven children, Lawrence Ward, Timothy Ward and his wife, Virginia, Cheryl Neece, Scott Ward and his wife, Vickie, Kevin Ward, Lisa Bryant and her husband, Joseph, and Brian Ward; her mother, Estelle O'Neil; two brothers, Lawrence Donahue and Neal O'Neil; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Donahue; her stepfather, Raymond O'Neil; and a grandson, Joshua Ward.

A Mass of celebration will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at St. Matthew Catholic Church with the Rev. John J. Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
