Gregory P. Cordell
Gregory Patrick Cordell, 49, of Stafford County died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Gregory served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer aboard the USS Simon Bolivar. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and was most recently the Managing Director of Operations at Integrys Energy Service in Rosslyn.
Gregory was an avid fan of Washington professional sports teams, and he was a sportsman and nature lover. Being a tremendous mentor, he was a devout father who advocated higher education for all of his children and other family members. Above all, he loved and dedicated himself to his entire family and extended family, and he loved his White Oak woodlands.
Survivors include his sons, Gregory Patrick Cordell II and Johnathan Cordell; his daughter, Natalie Cordell; his parents, William and Germaine Cordell of Stafford; his brothers, Bill Cordell of Frederick, Md., and David Cordell of Mechanicsville, Md.; his sister, Michelle Woolf of Stafford; his loving partner, Danette Sartwell of Damascus, Md.; three aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel, 1310 Courthouse Road, Stafford. Burial will follow in Stonewall Memorial Gardens, Manassas.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home.
