Obama would condemn our children to debt

Obama would condemn our children to debt

In 1789, Thomas Jefferson wrote to James Madison, "The earth belongs to the living; the dead have neither power nor right over it."

Jefferson believed that no generation has the right to obligate the one that follows.

A scant 200-odd years from that date, our "leaders" believe their capacity is greater than Jefferson's.

This administration is chaining our future generations to lives of perpetual debt.

It sickens me to think that instead of leaving a legacy we can be proud of, we're condemning our children and our children's children to a quality of life far below that which we desire for them.

Two important lessons from history are being ignored: That "spreading the wealth" is really spreading the poverty, and that it's not about "leveling the playing field."

It's about developing outstanding players who can win by making the best use of their abilities regardless of the ballpark.

We've heard more than enough American mea culpas from this administration to last a lifetime.

America has broken its back to get where it is. We've earned our right to "excessive" consumption--two wage earners, long commutes and overtime, no midday siestas, no eight-week government-sponsored holidays, and, most of all, personal sacrifice, hard work, stress, and risk-taking.

And we've earned (and truly value) our national sovereignty! America's sovereignty is not for sale either to an international judiciary or for global constraints.

Despite our years of international charity, we've too often been thanked by condemnation, both inside and outside the UN.

Enough is enough. The 2010 elections will show our leadership that America had enough of their devastating policies. God, indeed, will bless America.

Mooseman, exactly (posted by True_Bob , Nov. 19, 2009 7:05 pm)
whereas everything his predecessor did WAS sh*t. Ooooh SNAP! Y'all right whingers (look it up, it's spelled correctly) are the only ones who expect miracles from Obama. "What, no miracles yet?" "He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy".

blame Bu[*#@!] (posted by Mooseman , Nov. 19, 2009 4:38 pm)
That's all the Obamamites know how to do. The big O hasn't done [*#@!] though has he?

Political Populism. Economic Ignorance. (posted by Einstein , Nov. 19, 2009 12:29 pm)
From 2000 to 2006, the Bush administration cut taxes and raised spending at a rate not seen in 50 years, taking a surplus and turning it into a record deficit. Two wars; a prescription drug bill and dozens of tax cuts ensured that the United States would need to borrow funds from foreign governments (China most notably) to pay our expenses. His fostering and protection of an unregulated derivatives market sealed the deal and pushed this country to the edge of a Depression. Anthems do not negate reality.

You don't want your kids and grandkids to pay off the debt Obama will supposedly incur? STOP HAVING KIDS. That will eliminate your worry about your grandkids and your great grandkids. Think they'll worry about you? Just look around at the game-playing, IPod generation, poring over suits at Joseph Banks and the games at Best Buy. Yeah, they'll worry about you. Think of the college costs you'll save on those ingrates. Get a cat or dog or both. They'll love you till they die, cost less, and won't mind spaying

I agree with rightone... (posted by navyorchid , Nov. 19, 2009 8:25 am)
It was nice to receive those checks when Bush was putting the surplus back into the hands of the people where it belonged....you can't lay our debt solely on the shoulders of this administration as you so aptly state "This administration is chaining our future generations to lives of perpetual debt"! This perpetual debt has been building for over 8 years!
