Robert C. Saunders Sr.

Robert Cleveland Saunders Sr., 75, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Saunders had attended Grace Baptist Church. He had been a truck driver for the city of Fredericksburg and later for Waste Management.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Saunders; his children, Patricia Beverly, Susie Venatta, Joeann Fleming, Lottie Embrey, Robert Saunders Jr., Gloria Johnson, Kevin Saunders, Bruce Saunders, Sherry Sears and John Saunders; a brother, Stuart Saunders; a sister, Beatrice Spillman; 48 grandchildren; and 39 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three grandsons.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Benjamin Kistler and the Rev. Zolly Hawthorne officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home.
