Daisy Lee Stanley, 91, of Caroline County died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Alexander Sinlock.
Daisy was born Sept. 26, 1918, to the late Willie and Lucy Thomas. She had four brothers and four sisters, of whom three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
In her early to middle years, Daisy was an avid gardener and loved to can. She liked to share her vegetables with others. She was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church. She enjoyed helping others and she especially loved little kids.
In her later years, Daisy enjoyed visits from the people who came to see her. She appreciated the tender loving care of those involved in her health and well-being, especially the hospice personnel of Medi Home Health and Hospice.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Sinlock, Joyce Pitts and Eleanor "Skip" Stanley; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Zach Thomas and his wife, Annabell, and Dorothy "Sissy" Butler and her husband, Ed; and a sister-in-law, Mary Thomas. She raised a great-nephew, Edward "Butch" Stanley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; and her son, Willard.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Jack A. Marcom Jr. and the Rev. Bob Ellinger officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
