Woman to take over Miss Virginia role
New Miss Virginia
Chinah Helmandollar of Smith Mountain Lake will assume the duties of Miss Virginia now that the original title-holder, Caressa Cameron of Spotsylvania, has won the Miss America crown.
Helmandollar was a finalist in the June 2009 Miss Virginia Pageant.
Helmandollar's personal platform is Serving Virginians with Disabilities. An aspiring actress, she graduated from James Madison University with a degree in theater and was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
She'll travel the state for the next six months, urging young people to make good decisions.
Cameron, 22, will do the same at the national level, serving as the spokeswoman for the Children's Miracle Network and pushing her own platform, Real Talk: AIDS in America.
