FREDERICKSBURG >> FOX 5 VISITS DOWNTOWN
D.C.'s Fox 5 visits downtown Fredericksburg

By Emily Battle

Downtown Fredericksburg got some time in the spotlight last Friday as the morning crew from Fox 5 in Washington broadcast the show from the city's riverfront and from Market Square.

Economic Development Director Karen Hedelt said the station contacted the city about a month ago. Word that Fredericksburg's Sister City Association would be cooking up a 5,000-egg omelet last weekend sold the Fox team on bringing the show to town, Hedelt said. Downtown business owners, re-enactors, artists and others all got a chance to chat up the 'Burg to the station's large metropolitan audience. "This is an extremely valuable opportunity," Hedelt said. "We never would be able to afford this type of exposure with our existing budget."
