Redskins' camp: position battle

ADAM CARRIKER, LDE
Carriker, who was acquired in a pre-draft trade from St. Louis, began camp with the first string. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett coached him with the Rams. Carriker missed all of last season with a shoulder injury and fell out of favor with St. Louis. He was billed as a 3-4 end coming out of college, though, so he could be a nice fit. He has given RG Artis Hicks plenty of trouble so far. PHILLIP DANIELS, LDE
Daniels, the Redskins starting 4-3 left defensive end last season, worked with the first string yesterday, as coaches continue their evaluation. He was predominantly a run stopper last season, and that will suit him well now. So will |
