Gas leak in downtown Fredericksburg
Officials believe the leak is related to today's earthquake.

City public safety officials are working a gas leak that appears to be centered in the 1000 block of Prince Edward Street in downtown Fredericksburg this evening.

According to Columbia Gas, the gas is leaking into the sewer system. The city is shutting down roads and police officers are going door to door to evacuate residents.

The area is bordered by the following intersections: William and Winchester streets; Amelia and Prince Edward streets; Prince Edward and George streets; William and Charles streets.

The Fire Department is on the scene.
