UPDATE: Fredericksburg shooting suspect held
Police say victim was shot in Mayfield after an early morning argument.

From Fredericksburg Police:

UPDATE TO AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Fredericksburg Detectives identified Dontae Reon Jackson as the suspect who shot the victim in the Mayfield subdivision in the early morning hours on 9/10/11 (See Daily Crime Report 20110912). Detectives had developed Jackson as the suspect within days of the shooting and were seeking his whereabouts after warrants were obtained for his arrest on 9/13/11. In the early morning hours on 9/16/11 Fredericksburg Detectives and FBI agents located Jackson at Wawa, 2390 Plank Road, and took him into custody. Jackson has been charged with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and using a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was held without bond.

Here's the Police Report from Natatia Bledsoe with the Fredericksburg Police Department:

Police responded to Mary Washington ER at approximately 1:45am this morning for a report of a man with a gunshot wound.  The victim, a 47 year old male from Stafford, reported that he and his girlfriend were driving around Mayfield looking for a friend when he was flagged down by an unknown black male.  

The victim stopped and got out of his car to talk to the male. An argument ensued, and as the victim was running away he was shot in the back of his thigh.

The victim and his girlfriend then drove to the hospital.  The victim has already been treated and released.

The suspect is described as a young black male, possibly with dreadlocks.  The investigation is ongoing.
