Carol E Pittman

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, Bernice Carol Ewell Pittman, 79, of Bowling Green went peacefully to the Lord on the wings of an angel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Arthur "Buddy" Pittman.

She was born in Richmond Sept. 30, 1932. On Dec. 27, 1952, she married the love of her life. As a young couple She and Buddy moved to Caroline County, where they raised their family.

Survivors include her three children, Leslee Salomone (and Mike) of Katy, Texas, Lynn Blatt (and Tom) of Bowling Green and Grady Pittman of Bowling Green; and a sister, Joyce Rose, of Richmond.

She was a charter and 50-year member of Caroline Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star, and had served as Worthy Matron in 1962-1963 and 1998-1999. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bowling Green, where she served in the Women's Missionary Union, Girls in Action and Acteens. She enjoyed spending summers in Mathews County at their home on Lanes Creek near the Chesapeake Bay.

In honor of her two feline friends, memorial contributions may be sent to Caroline Humane Society, Box 75, Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.

A private service to scatter her and her husband's cremains on the Chesapeake Bay will be held at a later date.
