Shacking up, teacher? Keep it quiet, please
Date published: 2/10/2012 Shacking up, teacher? Keep it quiet, please People are always complaining about sports figures and stars who are not good role models for our children. I am afraid that many of our teachers are failing our children as role models as well. Teachers are far more important to our children than sports heroes. If teachers are living with their girlfriends or boyfriends and having children out of wedlock, they need to keep this information out of the classroom. They definitely do not need to discuss it with 10- and 11-year-old students. I bring this up because of a conversation with my grandchild over the weekend. This undermines the teachings of right and wrong and the concepts of responsibility and morality we are trying to instill. Teachers, remember your role, please. We are entrusting you with our most precious treasures. Karen Akers Spotsylvania
