James Bernard Payne, 69, of Montross departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in a Mechanicsville hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Lavada Payne; one daughter, Marjorie Beverly of Fredericksburg; three sons, James Bernard Payne of Fredericksburg and Keith Payne and Anthony Reynolds, both of Tappahannock.

Viewing will be Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at Morning Star Baptist Church, Montross, where a funeral service will be held at noon, with the Rev. Charles Payton, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
