With temperatures climbing and a heat advisory in effect Monday, Falmouth Beach in Stafford County (top) was filled with sunbathers and swimmers on Memorial Day. Some found relief in the water. Katherine Lasica (above, left) and Jenci Collins of Fredericksburg make their way back to their cars at Old Mill Park after a tubing run down the Rappahannock River. For others, the day was a time to relax. Stephanie Batres (above, right), 5 months old, gets a swing in the hammock by her mother while the family enjoys a Memorial Day cookout at Old Mill Park. Local officials remind people that they should wear life jackets when in the Rappahannock.
