Martha H. Cheeks, 85, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Newtown, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Cheeks Beard; two sons, Paul Cheeks and Anthony Cheeks; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Benjamin and James Hill.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at First Mount Olive Baptist Church, Newtown. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 until the time of the service. Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md.
