School board names supervisor liaison

The Orange County School Board has selected District 2 representative Judy Carter as its liaison to the county Board of Supervisors.

Following a joint retreat last month to improve communication and working relationships between the two groups, the supervisors chose Chairman Teel Goodwin as their liaison to the School Board.

At the School Board meeting Tuesday, Carter volunteered for the liaison duties. She also informed her fellow board members that her husband, Orange Town Councilman Henry Lee Carter, had been named the council's liaison with the supervisors.

"I don't think there is anything that would be ethically wrong with it," she said, "but I wanted you to know about it before you voted for me to do it. He's there for town reasons, and I am there for school reasons."

Her fellow board members voted unanimously to appoint her to the post.

"I'm very pleased that the board gave me the support to be the liaison," Carter said. "Teel Goodwin and I are going to work really hard to have better communication."
