Two Woodbridge teens were arrested Wednesday on charges they tried to steal more than $200 worth of DVDs, video games and other items from the Walmart on U.S. 17.
The Stafford Sheriff's Office is also investigating whether thefts from other Walmarts could be related to this case, said Bill Kennedy with the Sheriff's Office.
In the Stafford case, Deputy Ray Gill was en route to the Walmart about 11 a.m. for a reported larceny when he spotted a Saturn matching a car implicated in the thefts, Kennedy said.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and confirmed those in the car matched the descriptions given by a loss prevention officer at the store.
The Walmart officer told police he noticed the suspects filling up a shopping cart with DVDs, video games and household and school supplies and then watched them leave the store.
He approached the teens in the parking lot and the suspects left the cart, got in their car and left.
After stopping the suspects the deputy noticed that there were DVDs and video games in the car, Kennedy said, adding that investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspects were involved in thefts from a Walmart in Fauquier or Culpeper.
Nathaniel Eggert, 18, and Ryon Johnson, 19, who live in Woodbridge, face felony shoplifting and conspiracy charges. They were taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, each with a $1,500 bond.
