The Church of Restoration Ministries will sponsor a Kids Cancervive Cancer fundraiser on Sept. 8. At 8 a.m. there will be a free-throw shooting contest and three-point contest for boys and girls ages 6 to 18 at Ron Rosner YMCA, 5700 Smith Station Road. There is a $10 registration fee. At 7 p.m. there will be a benefit concert at Massaponax High School, featuring Richard Davis and the Spirit of Truth, Candace Johnson and Kindled, Pleasant II Mime Ministries, Tyshawnda Silver, Alec Oughton of the Grace Oughton Foundation and Minister Sylvia "Sista Ida Mae" Williams. All proceeds from these events will be donated to local pediatric organizations. Admission is free, and free wristbands will be given out at the door while supplies last.
Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6170 Plank Road, will hold a bazaar Sept. 15, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., featuring handmade crafts, homemade baked goods, art, books, vendors and more. Proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the church kitchen. 540/786-7778.
Church of the Messiah, Episcopal, will begin the fall schedule of church school on Sept. 9. Grades K-7 will meet in the parish house during the 9 a.m. service. K-5 will meet in the parish house during the 10:30 a.m. service, and grades six-12 will meet in the fellowship classroom. Confirmation class will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and Omega, the teen group, will run 6 to 7:30 p.m. 540/786-3100.
Craigs Baptist Church, near Lake Anna, will hold its annual Homecoming Celebration on Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m. Music will be provided by the Finneys and the Craigs Baptist Praise Team. Lunch will take place at noon; feel free to bring a dish to share. Revival will be held Sept. 10-12, with the Rev. Josh Turner of New Life Church in Louisa preaching at 7 p.m. nightly. Bethany Baptist Church, 5001 Arcadia Road, will celebrate its 242nd anniversary and homecoming Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Susan McBride will be guest speaker.
