Freddie Roosevelt Paytes, 75, of Spotsylvania County died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in Fredericksburg.
He was the son of the late Freddie and Irene Talley Paytes. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mary Marie Paytes; a son, Terry Wayne "Onion" Paytes; a brother, Harvey Paytes; and sisters Elizabeth Holden and Pearl Lane.
He is survived by three daughters, Donna P. Byies and husband Mike of Spotsylvania, Angela P. Moore and husband William of North Carolina and Sharon P. Tate and husband Roy of Culpeper; daughter-in-law Tracy Tucker of Locust Grove; two brothers, James Paytes and Alvin Paytes; four sisters, Dottie P. Lumpkins, Inez P. McDonald, Betty P. Scott and Joyce Oliver; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Suzie.
Mr. Paytes served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Laurel Hill Memorial Park, Spotsylvania. The Rev. Amos Healy will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060-9901.
